It’s all about safety! No such thing as quotas, either!

That would be more honest than “public safety”

Automotive Darwin Award, maybe you shouldn’t be driving fast if you can’t scan.
Or even better speeding around Blind corners.

Even worse. If he gets someone there, it’s for running a red light right in front of him. He was very visible and traffic was really heavy up to the light so no-one could speed anyway.

Ever have to go to an accident scene? Ever get to notify family of a traffic fatality?

I’ve been in and seen accidents. If it were truly about safety they’d be out in the open, not after the crest of a hill or turn. That causes a more dangerous situation with people suddenly braking, including non speeders as a natural reaction. Anybody who’s driven long enough has been caught in traffic because there’s a cop ahead going around the speed limit. That effectively reduces speed. Speed traps are about revenue generation and nothing else.

Or they have gotten complaints from the public about people speeding. Most times in Sacramento they tell the Radio stations about where they will be.

It’s not public complaints on my route. 1 big city that uses tickets to fund things. Several small towns that use tickets to keep from going bankrupt. The street I grew up on as a kid would sometimes have a cop at the end of it and it was usually after weeks of complaints. It was a long, straight shot that people used to cut through the neighborhood. 40-50 mph was not unheard of on our 25 mph limit street.

I’m not sure if APD is using BMWs or Yamahas. I know the Travis County Sheriff was using Yamahas (very distinctive engine note), but they recently switched back to the big Harleys.

Is that Round Rock or APD?

The police in metro ATL are a mix of different things depending on the city.
